Hey guys, setting up a 135 gallon reef aquarium with 55 gallon sump/refugium. Gathering all my things together to start my process. I am glad I found this forum, at least I know most of you are close by. I will have many questions to ask as I go through my build. I have a metal halide system that I will be hanging about 15' above the tank. For what I am going to be growing I dont think it needs to be much higher and I have heard stories of people putting MH to close to their tanks.

I thought 15 feet was a bit extreme as to not burn your corals.......

Sounds like you'll be fine, but guess it depends on the wattage of your MH and what you're keeping in the tank
