Hey guys (and gals), new here and the site is great - packed with useful info. I've already met several members and the community is a nice way to avoid problems for novices like me.

I have a 125G in the living room and an up and coming 30G cube in the kitchen.

Question: How much water do you guys keep in your sump? The guy before me kept it at around 5% or less, just enough to not have bubbles come through the pumps. Sump is standard 24"x12"x 16" with half bio balls.

Thanks and I look forward to chatting with you guys. I also have stuff I will post to sell shortly.

I keep mine about 2/3's Enough that if power goes out the overfill wont overfill my sump...thats just me though...My heater is in my sump so that has to stay covered...blah blah blah btw mine is only a 10 gallon sump with skimmer, heater and pumps in in

I have a 29g with 12" baffles which is where my water level sits. Plenty of room for the overflows to drain back into my sump.

I keep mine at 2/3, you want to use as much as possible without overflowing when the power shut off.

I've got a 55 sump with 12" baffles at one end and 16" high fuge at the other. On average it's about 1/2 full...

I keep mine about 3/4 of the way filled... It really depends on if you are running your skimmer in sump I guess or if you are going to have baffels. Some skimmers you want the water at different heights then others. I guess that is going to dictate alot for some people.

is in the sump and it's height adjustable. I am moving my 125 to a new stand this weekend and I will make some height adjustments to the skimmer then to accomodate more water in the sump. sounds like a happy medium. thanks.
