Hello all. I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm new to the site and to saltwater tanks. i have had my freshwater aquarium for about 6 years and just recently decided to change over to saltwater. i have and continue to learn alot about this hobby. Please if you would like to offer sugguestion, feel free to contact me. Also, I'm looking for some live rock (about 200 lb) let me know. Thank you. Alicia

Welcome to the madness, my 2cents is take it slow. Unlike freshwater tanks you take things to fast in saltwater tanks can cause you to be constantly fighting something. Do you have a tank already? What are your thoughts, are you going SPS or mixed reef?

Thank you. My thoughts are to have a mixed reef tank. I have a 110 gallon XL tall. It has been up and running for 1 month now. I'm still trying to get rock for the tank. My plans are to take it slow. Thanks for your reply.

No problem, where are you getting the Rocks from? Be sure you dont get any surprises within the Rock. Honestly, and some others would disagree with me, I would go with Dry Rock unless your absolutely sure your not getting any bad hitchhikers coming along. last thing you want is a Mantis Shrimp in there. But i think you will do fine, ask questions LOTS OF THEM.

Dry roock is fine with me. I have about 80lb of live rock already. I just need more rock. If is it dry, I will be happy about that.

I agree with everyone on the dry rock. Keep an eye on the for sale forum. There is always rock for sale.

Welcome to ARC. :-)

Welcome! I will say I wish I had less rock in my tank. When my tank was new I put lots of rock in so it would look fuller; however, now I need more space for coral! If you're doing a mixed reef you'll be surprised how fast stuff can grow. Maybe get some fast growing (but controllable) soft coral to fill in space and then as your hard corals grow you can sell the softies, or prune them back. Just my 2 cents.

Traylor23, it was nice to meet you too. My clowns are doing wonderful. I will post pictures of my tank tomorrow. Thanks sooo much.

Edit: Frantz, thanks for the advice. Note taken.
