new member and new to the forums.....I am moving from a 46g cichlid tank (no saltwater background) to saltwater. I will be starting to set up my 75g FOWLR tank in a few weeks. Once the FOWLR tank is up and running well and I figure all this new stuff out, I plan to transition it to a reef tank.

Welcome. A lot of new folks here today..glad to see it! I still have my Malawi setup and I enjoy it very much. I don't think I could part ways with them if I tried. Any questions you have, just ask away. There are alot of knowledgable reefers here at ARC.

+1

oh, and yay to having another south-sider! :yay:

thanks...I am looking forward to getting started and my wife is looking forward to more colorful fish. I have been talking to Tiffany at Blue Planet and she is helping me get set up.

:D Welcome to the club....... Do yourself a favor and only collect "reef safe" fish for your FOWLR tank, that way, you wont have to change out the fish, or weigh the thought of giving up a fish you've grown attached to verses having the cool reef tank of your dreams.......

Just a thought

p.s. maybe put your name in the signature line so we can say "Hi ___insert name here______:D

Thats actually the background that I have. Started off slow then kept a variety of cichlids for several years. Then two months ago took the saltwater plunge!

Lots of research....take it slow. But all in all not bad. Haven't lost any wildlife yet. Water readings are good for a 2 mth old tank. I have been reading these forums here for the last 2 days and have learned more than the 2 mths of reading on the internet!

Its a great experience!

I bounced around allot. Use the search function, list a key word for something you want info on and tons of stuff will pop up. And along the way you will learn about stuff you weren't even thinking about!
