I am new to the forums and have only been in the hobby roughly a year... and thanks to Jenn with Imagine Ocean I am an addict... I have a 110 (was told from the guy I bought it from 125) reef tank that has a little of everything growing in it... and with the most recent trip to Jenns store I acquired a 15 gallon tank and stand that we are cycling to do a softies tank with seahorses... I love this hobby (even when it can get quit expensive) Just wanted to say hello to everyone... look forward to joining ARC soon and getting more knowledge on the beauty of the reef...

Welcome we are glad you decided to join us. Two things I would recommend right off the bat:

1. Join sooner than later. :-). Sponsors (Jenn is one) give a 10% discount to paid ARC members on most items. Pays for itself in short order.
2. Post pics and info about your system. It's the law. Well OK not the law but people love threads with pictures and lists of equipment and livestock. :-)

I saw her one night standing in a dark alley wearing a trench coat. I can't be sure but I think I heard her say "Hey kid. Want a coral? First one is free". :-)

Yeah that was us... actually the whole reason we got into the hobby was because of our son and he is only 3 and can identify everything in the tank... so just the educational aspect of getting into the hobby was worth every dime... were you the one who I bought the corals out before you got there?

Edit: Seth- My wife says that I am already a junkie... only crappy thing is I put all this work in my tank but my wife and son are the ones that get to enjoy it as I am on the road quit a bit with work...

Yup that was me. :D I teach my oldest daughter (8) what is in the tank, but try to get her educated more into the water testing, what the different additives we dose do, and why. I am still learning myself, but try to drag her along. She is into the mechanics of why, and then, let me try. :D
Good on ya for getting him involved. Like you, they get to see the tank more than me. :( Soon i will at least get to see it from long distance via web browser...well settings and what is running or not. Uhg came home tonight to take a glance downstairs, um unless the door is closed, the lights are not on. Why? Main lights were programmed off on the timer outlet. So now, at least i hope i can get it working where i will be alerted of that.:thumbup:

Welcome to the ARC and kids are definitely a good reason to keep our tanks. It feels awesome when they come home and tell you that they learned about ecosystems and say: "we have one home"and then do their project on a reef. That justifies the expenses

I never thought of that...yea Hun, I need that coral....it's for the kids.ill have to try that one.haha and welcome

lol... I posted a cell phone pic of my 110 in the forums already... I am still working with seahorse tank so I imagine another week an half to 2 weeks I should have some life in it... New LEDs for the tank will be here Friday so once I get them I am going to put a few zoa frags and shrooms in the tank to see how it looks maybe I will post some pics of that this weekend.. but thanks

I just paid for my ARC membership... disappointed no bells, whistles, or fireworks went off... maybe my tank will explode with growth instead...:D
