I am brand new to this and trying to piece together components for a a reef tank. I have a reef ready 75 gallon and stand. I am going to move very slow and get things mature before adding coral etc...

Here is what I am looking at ordering over the next week. If you think that I am making a mistake on something please feel free to let me know.

Items about to purchase:

Eshopps RS-200 (25 Gallon)
Reef Octopus NWB150
Bulk Reef supply RO/DI
Bulk Reef Supply "Reef Saver" 80 pounds
Tunze 3155 Osmolater ATO
Coralife Lunar Aqualight HO T5

I am still undecided on the heater and am researching that now.

Again, feel free to tell me if you think that I am making a mistake on anything. I have so much to learn! Thanks for the help.

Brian,

Welcome to the ARC.

Before ordering that stuff, stop by and see us. We'll help you with the components as well as give you a new member discount. :)

I used the BRS "reef saver" rock in my tank and really like it. It is easy to stack together. I also drilled holes in my rock for frag plugs.

heater id go with jager eheim and lighting idk, if you feel like your really going to get into coral and dont want to be limited, then I say upgrade your light as well. Also I recommend checking out reefrocks.net for sand as well as rock and when you get down to return pumps, i recommend Quiet One

Looks like your off to a great start. I wish I'd found ARC when I started. Would have saved lives!

I'd get a couple of heaters if you could in case one craps out (and it will)
Jäger is good... I have been using Finnex titaniums and likey.
If you can swing a controller, even better.

Lighting?
It's the old T5 vs MH thing. Both have there pros and cons.
Nowadays you can add LED's to the argument.
If I was starting up and had the cabbage, I would go LED.

Enjoy!
Building is most of the fun!
...and it never seems to stop.:D

if you think you may go larger, go with a bigger skimmer. :)
If this suits you, you'll upgrade to a 90 or larger.

Good call.

Get a skimmer that can handle your first up grade and your way ahead.

...cuz its gonna happen

Tank up full of water. Now patience..... I don't care of the cycle takes 6 weeks. On the bright side it's almost like having a water feature in my office. I like it without the fish. I can't imagine how much better it will get from here.
