I have two clowns been in about a month. I wanted to add the fish shrimp combo for my next add.. however when it comes to quarantining do I split them up? Is this even a good idea for a tank that’s only 3 months old? And if not what would be a good next fish?

I would def play it safe with caution. Shrimp and other stuff i would just drip acclimate.

Personally I think a 3 month old tank is a risky place to put a shrimp as they are sensative Invertabrates. Maybe the fish part of the combo would be OK for now. There's nothing wrong with adding a shrimp later, the symbiotic relationship will still form if added at separate times.

I agree so crazy in this hobby people get 20 opinions. This is why I always say with with caution

Well FWIW I got a pistol shrimp and a goby as my first inhabitants in my first tank. And I still have the pistol shrimp but the goby jumped out of the tank. Now I have a yellow watchman with the pistol shrimp.

Lol well I might have picked one up today

Haha - love it! I have one in quarantine now :)

It’s gotten very hard to find small ones. Did you get wild or captive-bred?

You are a new member, are you also new to the hobby? Just need some idea of skill level.
Also, what sized tank do you have?
Is there a sump, refugium, sized skimmer? All can have an impact & pictures help a lot.
What type of community do you want? Peaceful nano types, mixed reef, angels & tangs, ?? With clowns and a tang it's looking like a mixed reef.
The more we know, the better the input you will get.

I had a nano tank for a few years about ten years ago. Took it down when we started to have kids. Right now I have a 65gallon but this will change next year. I do have a skimmer just a cheep hung on back for now. (Works well if you ask me) I have two ocean revives for lighting. I keep the whites low not much algae growth. I did a fishless cycle that was about two months (dry rock live sand) And I do a weekly 5 gallon water change. I do have a large canister filter on the tank. No room for a sump. So this tank was just a way for me to connect with my middle daughter a little more.( she asks me almost everyday when the next reef club meeting is) anyway we are moving slow with the tank was thinking 4-5 fish, cuc and corals. And yes she talked me into a tag today. I have added 3 more rocks that are not in the pic and a 2nd powerhead

Tank looks great, clean.

I agree, the tank looks great!
FWIW, if you are looking for a great community fish, one of my favorites is the royal gramma. Beautiful, robust & all around good reef citizen.
Cudos to you on finding a common interest with your daughter. Spend all the time you can with her now, that opportunity is fleeting (trust me on that!).

For your 65g, I think 2 Ocellaris/Percula clowns and a goby/shrimp are a great start! Its only been a couple months, I would be cautious about going too quickly. Maybe add 1 fish now, then wait another month.

Just to support: Yes, you can add a watchman goby now, and add a shrimp later, once the tank is more mature. The shrimp will not need to be quarantined. I would recommend against a Yasha goby or other very small one in such a large tank. One of my favorites is the Pink Spot Goby; which you can pair with a Tiger Pistol Shrimp.

I also think the Royal Gramma is a great suggestion!

Finally, I think an option that you might be ready for in another 1-3 months, would be one of the bristletooth tangs. Both the Tomini Tang and the Kole Tang are great fish, relatively small, and will help keep algae under control. Either of these will be much smaller and less aggressive than most other tang species.
