Nitrates, 40ppm

Should I be concerned at my Nitrate reading being around 40ppm? I water change 20 gallons and vacuum the substrate on my 90 biweekly and my ammonia and nitrites are 0. :huh:

I have a FOWLR tank.

For fish only, its not bad, but not good. Try larger water changes, feeding less or look into a denitrator.

20 gallons every two weeks or twice a week? What kind of skimmer are you using? are you running a fuge?

Bi-weekly should mean every other week. So that's 44% of total volume changed monthly coupled with vacuuming the substrate would have me leaning to suggest less feeding. Also consider adding a skimmer if not using one now. 40 PPM nitrate is not terrible for FO but I would like to see it lower for sure.

Thanks y'all. I have a Vertex Omega 150 skimmer since I started the tank and I do not have a refuge.
