I have never tested my RO water for Nitrates so today I did. The result was surprising. I got about 2 ppm. Has anyone else done this? Just for the record, I ordered new filters today. The ones I have are only about 6mo old.

How old is the membrane? A properly working unit should have zero everything.

It is 6 month old also. I am changing it all out. I am not sure what is up.

I just remeber the old adage of " Check the Checker"

Could it be the test kit ?

It's been a while since I have used anything salifert. 4 or 5 years ago, the NO3 test was very inconsistent. I'd test one sample, with 2 or three different set of reagents, and get different results. They may have improved that by now.

I like the seachem nitrate kit.

Interesting.....Do you have a TDS meter? My membrane is over a year old and still putting out 0TDS water but I've never checked for nitrates. I tried checking for phosphates with my Hanna Checker but Hanna said it only works on saltwater. I'll try checking my nitrates tomorrow.
