Hey guys still no power in my area.

My tank is getting cold.
I have a battery backup for my vortecs. I'm boiling water now on my gas stove.

How long can I keep this up? Anyone close by able to take my clowns for me. They matter the most to me

it will work as long as you will keep at it if you have a cooler you can transfer them to it like shipping them also you can heat glass plates and place them in the tank just water test them first so they dont blow up in ghe tank gl bud

cover the tank with towels to insulate the tank

yeah, or a large comforter. anything to insulate it. the vortechs should keep your oxygen levels up. next thing to think about is heating the room/house up as much as possible. build a fire in the fireplace. you could bag the fish and put them in a cooler with handwarmers like falos said. gl man

I feel for you guys in the areas that got hit the worse. For us we got a little rain with some thunder and lighting and no wind.
I hope evryone power is back on by now.

Kris if I was close enough I would come get them and baby sit. Try every thing that was suggested and good luck. I know you have a lot of $ in those clowns.

Besides a pane of glass blowing out suddenly on my tank, power loss is my greatest fear with the tank. Good luck to you guys. My wife made me buy a 800w small generator from harbor freight just in case.

I got a 5000w generator still in the box that someone can borrow if they need. Only condition is you have to pick up AND return it to my house as I don't have anything to haul it in.

Luckily...no power issues in this part of town either. I've got two generators that can be borrowed at any time. One is a small 1350w and the other is on wheels at 3250 or 4000 (can't remember which).

Well after 9 hours I got power back. I ended up buying a 750w inverter. Buying a generated today

Had to get the inverter at 1 am. Luckily I got the last one Walmart had. Everyone out here lost power

Me to. I was more worried about my fish then all the grocerys my wife just got.

All I know is I'm dragging today. I'm exhausted from being up all night

I've got a generator too if any one needs to use it.

This is why I like this club!

Kris, glad you're back on line. Any fatalities?

Having a tank is kinda like having a newborn

god, that was horrible.. I'm thinking 4 hour nap today! :o) mine finally came on at 5:30AM from being off at 7PM.

Havent gone downstairs to check the damage in the frag tanks. (last night while hooking things up, etc, I deff noticed several pure white corals, so not looking forward to it :o().. DT all look pretty good. maybe 1 or 2 SPS a little stn, but mostly good.. how is your stuff?

Mine all made it.

My blue sps I got from Ryan a few weeks ago looks white but only half. Ill check tonight once one

My power went out from trees and lines being down next door to me at 6pm. 10 mins after I left to go to scouts. Daughter calls me and tells me all this. Answer was call power company and NEVER leave the porch again!!!
Got home at 11pm and they cleared enough room for vehicles to get by. Thankfully I bought a generator last year for this very reason and only have used it for scouts a couple of times. I hooked up the fridge, freezer, and both fish tanks. .
I hooked up my cpap and cell phone to my redtop camping battery and went to bed. Our lights came back on about 3am. I got up turned the generator off and replugged everything up.
I would look into at least getting a cheap harbor freight 100.00 generator just to have.

bummer - coupon does not work. Still sounds like a fairly inexpensive option

Yeah, guys. That storm came through here in Montgomery on it's way up there. My GF is in marketing at the power company here, and reported 193,000 houses without power last night here in Alabama...

It got rough, but, I fortunately pulled through with no power outages. My rental houses were a different story, though.

Glad you all made it through!!!
