so i am building a 27 cube and i dont want to use a sump
instead i was going to use a biowheel without the biowheel but i am seeing way too many micro bubbles

my question is what would you use on a small tank for filtration if you did not use a sump

i plan on getting a small HOB skimmer as well

When I had my 26 gallon, I used a Subcurrent internal wet/dry filter. It was a good filter, the suction cups do have to be replaced every so often!

On a small tank I would use the HOB skimmer and forego the biowheel. You can do a HOB refugium if so desired.

A subcurrent can hold media! I just took out the bio balls and put whatever in there!

You may be able to place that sort of stuff into the chamber of a HOB skimmer if the right one is chosen. Look around prior to purchasing. There are several out there that would do what you need.

What he said....plus there are more beside that one.

dont want to go thru the trouble of drilling and pumps and overflowing

i just want a clean simple set up untill i can afford to set up a larger system
i only want 3 fish 2 shrimp and softies and maybe lps

i think the only way to go here is HOB fuge...does anyone have one for sale

also i have seen several Remora skimmers up for sale recently. That may be a good skimmer for you

IMO your fixture is way over kill for that....T5's would have been more then enough...

I used a Rena canister for that a while ago, works fine but you have to clean it at least once a month.

I think I still have it in the garage somewhere if you're interested

it would be a nice SPS garden eventually too. or frag tank when you get that far! so halide good choice IMO

i got a great deal on the tank and stand---150
so i will work with what i have
this is also a budget build just so i can stay in the hobby i love

its already running or i would consider doing that

i think im going to try a HOB fuge with a aqua c nano remora on the fuge
