So l know it's ok to run phosphate chips in a fresh water tank. But is it still ok to put a bag in my saltwater??? Sounds like an easy ya. But so did throwing salt water on the driveway to melt it. But uh ya apparently that's not a good idea.

My bad it was supposed to say noob question and can we use amonia chips. All I have left is the 50/50 mix I use for my freshwater tanks. Wanted to make sure it was ok to use. Didn't want to throw saltwater on my driveway if u know what I mean.

If you mean Zeolite, it's not recommended for saltwater. I know there are products for reef tanks that incorporate zeolite (NeoZeo, ZeoVit, etc) but that's different.

Sorry rob understands the driveway thing. Just ment I didn't want to do something stupid. And the sell bulk carbon I use that usuLly for my salt tank. They also sell a mix with half carbon and half these little white chips I think are ammonia. That one I usually only use for my freshwater tanks. I'm out of the pure carbon now so I was wondering if I could use the mixed one in my salt tank? I never have before not sure what the mix is called I'm not at home. But it's chePer that's y I use it on the fresh tanks.

Sounds like you are talking about Seachem Seagel? That is carbon and Phosguard mixed together. That is reef safe, but it isn't for ammonia; it is for phosphate removal. If that isn't what you are talking about, then ignore me and carry on... :)

I'm sorry yall it's just my memory thing messing me up jen got it. It ammo-carb they sell at petco it's not saltwater safe. Sorry to confuse you and Ty for the quick responses and helpful advice. Y'all are the best Ty.

Sounds good though does it work well?

It has worked well for me, but I think the $ comes out better to buy them separately and use them as you wish. I should have said "they both worked well for me but I never bought them both in one bottle". :)
After doing some reading I'm switching to GFO now that I'm about out of Phosguard, but I think Phosguard works fine (plus it is cheaper and you don't have to be AS careful with it as you do GFO).
