Does anyone notice or experience small algae bloom when they add nori?

Unless you're adding a TON of Nori and no one is eating it... the two should not be correlated.

Dried seaweed (even with a few drops of Selcon) on a clip shouldn't do much...IMHO.

Most likely... I'm doing the same.

Which is why I bought the power buy reactors... I'm going to run some serious carbon on my system.

Yea, need to look more into that. I doubt ill change my feeding regiment. I love feeding my coals and think a well fed plump fish is a happy fish.

agreed... problem is... a well fed tank is a hairy green one without the right filtration.

I feed my fish 3 times a day. Flake in the morning. One cube of frozen food in the late afternoon and a 2"x3" sheet of nori at night. I have a HUGE skimmer and run carbon along with gfo. Still get brown hair algae. I think it's the nori sheets. I'm cutting back on feed now.

Im thinking about going carbon in my PB reactor as well. I thought about biopellets but my nitrates are usually in check anyway - never higher than 5 and thats when I skip WC and still feed heavy, get lazy on skimmer cleaning etc....

Blake convinced me to run carbon. I couldn't believe just how clear the water became soon after.

Yeah... I'm going to run heavy carbon and gfo... I've got a lot of filtration going on, but I'm still seeing some hair algae (which is funny to me cuz the glass stays clean most of the time with a very limited snail population).

I'm probably going to start pellets too ... but want to read up on em more.
