While doing tank maint. this afternoon I discoverred something new that I didn't put there. LOL Pics are not good but the get I could do. Looks like a baby anemone, baby hammer or baby frogspon but is a bland brown color and is only about the size of the end of my little finger. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rich

Kind of figured that but wanted to be sure. Just did an Aptasia while working on the tank. Guess it is time to get wet again. Of course it is in a tough spot to get too. But not an impossible spot. LOL

Majano's are a lot hardier than aiptasias, because of which typical chemical eradications do not work well. If you can pull the rock I'd recommend that.

Yup, that's not going to work. LOL Of course it is the bottom of the stack. I would have to break the tank down to remove this particular rock.

Try the Aiptasia X, if that doesn't work contact Acroholic. He used a chemical method to remove clove polyps that may work. I'm not comfortable giving instructions on a open forum do to the nature of the chemical involved as well as my complete lack of knowledge of how it was done.

Here is a better pic. Doesn't match everything I found on line thought.

Ok, you can all tell me "I told you so" later. LOL I am going to wait and see what developes for the time being. Came real close to nuking it but it just doesn't look like all the pics I can find on line. It is below and to the right of my larger RBTA that split several months ago but I see no signs of a recent split on the mother or on this.

Cool nem hope its good
A way to kill majanos is to cover the area they are at with epoxy putty use a tooth brush to press in the clay leaving a bubble in the center.
then inject Kalk paste in to it make it as thick as possible

I will keep that in mind. Sounds like a good idea.

Even one of my most trusted experts is a bit stumped. Leaning towards a anemone but also said it kind of looks like a recordia except for the long trunk. While I am in no way certain, I would have to say RBTA as well at this point. If that is the case, it will make three of them in the tank.

Thats definatly an rbta or something of the sort. Looks as if its been out of direct light for a few weeks?

Rich sent me pictures earlier and I wasn't positive it was a Mojano.

Given the size, it could almost be a tiny Ricordea (hard to tell actual size of that from the pic)... but the column seems too long.

Upon asking and finding out there is a bubble anemone in there, the possibility that this thing is a tiny split, seems to be the most logical answer to me.

My suggestion was to watch and wait.

One other possibility although very remote in my mind. I had a GBTA that never really did well. When I upgraded the tank it roamed a lot. It finally settled in a location at the end of the left side of the tank. Still didn't do well. After 3 or 4 weeks it disappeared under a rock never to be seen again. This is at the opposite end of a 6' tank, there is a 10-12" sand bed between to two rock structures and this appears to more brown or red than green. Is it possible that it roamed for a couple of month and finally settled in this location?

id say go ahead and build a little epoxy mote around it and then leave it for a while and if it turns out to be something bad cover it with kalk and then fill the "mote" with more epoxy to seal it in
