Starting the volunteer process at the Georgia Aquarium. Went on Saturday after orientation they let us walk around, way to crowded, but I was able to snap this one pic. Its so strange I can look in the tanks now and name most everything in there :) these Nems were atleast a foot to a foot n a half.

Yeah the have a nice collection, they also have an exhibit where you can touch them also

lol did you see the ones in the tide pool above the reef tank

BTW was it the long orientation you had last week? I picked up my first shift since the orientation this Sunday plus they have a fish lecture at noon that should be interesting.

Hey Sean! I was going to hit you up. NO, I still have the looong orientation to go through. I just did the mini session last week. Still waiting on the background check stuff. Ordered my shirt and all that fun stuff. How'd your shift go? What area where you in?

Oh, Those are so serious nems too!! gez, that's crazy what a large tank will do ;-)

I start this weekend, bee traveling too much to do anything. I did volunteer about 4 years ago and it was pretty easy. It's still counting my River Scout and Tropical Diver training from then so I can sign up for those too even though I haven't done their training this time around. I did Greeter a few times before and it was ok. I wouldn't mind doing the sleep over thing to rack up the hours.

I know I heard sleepovers are great to rack up hours, but with orientation counted you only have 36 hours left. When I get to start my actual hours I'll PM you to see if you're going to be on the same time. Always nice to know atleast ONE person :)

I am a member at the aquarium and i love going there. I can stare at the tanks for hours. I really want to do the behind the scenes tours, but they don't advertise them where do you buy tickets for them? i see you can buy the encounters everywhere

That's a really good question Brandon. I'll see if I can find out next time I'm over there.

You should Amy! It's definitely a process to get going with it. They really put you through the ringer, background checks, a 3hr info class, then an 8hr orientation class. It was worth it just to be in the one small back area that had a window into the penquin clinic! 3 of them lined watching 2 inchs from my face. They were to cute!

Sounds like a experience!
