Ok guys right now I am running a coralife 65 on my 125 gal reef wich has 3 messy eating tangs in it, so yea I am not skimming enough my water is getting a yellow tint to it ( thank god for water changes at this point) but I can get a octopus skimmer for my sump rated for 150 gal for $200 is that a good deal? And how is that skimmer compared to coralifes or other skimmers? Should I get it?

Reef Octopus is way better than Coralife, and for $200, I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Jump on it!

Reef octopus make very good skimmers. Their all I've ever used and I've had great results with it. Although I would try to work the price on that skimmer. To me $200 for a reef octopus that's only rated for 150g is a bit much. I spent $320 on a brand new one and it's rated for a 250g and I run it in my 120g display. Try to work the price down a bit. Other then that, it's a great skimmer

definitely go with the reef octopus. I bought a NW-150 from a member on here a couple weeks back and am more than impressed by it.

I was impressed when i went to the coralife from my old crappy one lol so if octopus is way better then octopus that is actually rated for my tank should make me really happy lol. Anyone know how deep the water needs to be for it, i may need to make adjustments to my sump sections for it. It should fit in the old section were the coralife is now , i may just need to make it deeper or shallower wat ever the case may be.

Yep that is a good deal! When I bought my Octopus 150, it was close to that price... I would jump on it.

We've been pleased with Reef Octopus skimmers - good value/performance for the money.

BTW if your water has a yellow tint, try running some activated carbon - it will polish out the tint. Even if you just run it for 2-3 days, you'll see a difference.

I have a Reef Octopus and I love it. It skims like crazy. I think the Coralife skimmers are ok for many situations but the Octopus is hands-down much better, IMO. The only concern I have is that a 150g rating might not be enough for your set-up depending on the volume of your sump.

Ran an octopus for about a year and i have no complaints, great skimmer....best bang for the buck imo

I have a 20 long as a sump only about half its capacity is being used tho, i have a chamber for skimmer then a fuge then return pump area after a line of bio balls, which every drop of water passes through :) Only about half the depth of 20 long is being used.

I currently have a coralife 220 and it does a fantastic job. there are many better skimmers but i got this used for 43.00. Can't beat that

Edit: My neighbor has a reef octopus and swears by it. he loves them and he says he has always used them
