Well, when Trinh was over at my house to measure my PAR rating-which is another story:yes:, he was a little mortified with my hair algae, lack of cleanup crew, and Aquamedic Turbofloat skimmer for my heavy loaded 120gal tank with about 20 gal of rubbermaid sump (which I probably need to get a real sump)-total of 140gal.

So, I am guessing that I need a GOOD skimmer to start along with a cleanup crew. With the glowing recommendations for the Octopus, which one will be adequate for my tank-there are quite a few. I bought my skimmer based on the rating of max of 240g-needless to say the manufacturer stretched the truth slightly. So, gimme a good one that will definitely work for my tank without overdoing it. Max clearance is 27". Thanks.

The NW 150 would probably be a good fit.

I am getting one in a couple days. Here is the link to the least expensive one I have found:

This is a buy it now but if you are patient there are some verrrrry good skimmers on ebay right now.

Here is the octopus that I mentioned to you. http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=496">http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=496</a>

Not sure what is the foot print of your sump. But thats also a good reason to get a custom built sump. But I would contact Keen for a clean up crew. He is having a 30% on livestocks, dont' get the giant hermit though.

I have a couple of these that i need to sell. Max performance Mod on both.
In sump NW-200 $160,

Roland, sent ya a pm. Thanks Trinh for coming by. I think I'll pick up some crabs and turbos this week-Tim's is kinda far for $15 worth of stuff. I did test my nitrates with a Salifert Test- which was between 2-5ppm. Not too shabby-unless that is off.

I also found a thread on RC about my T-5 bulbs. My stock ones are 210 PAR so the reading was pretty on. I will probably get some ATI's which are around 310-330 PAR each. Thanks everyone! That's why ya'll are so cool!

if you going with the Ostopus then get a reric 1. they are much better. If not then go with an ASM. they are cheaper and are just as good

1. You will spend more than 15 bucks when you are at Keen reef just because there are lots of good deal.
2. I would try to lower that nitrate as much as possible:

Where are ASM skimmer that are cheaper that Octopus skimmers?

The ASM G-4 is $409 at Marine Depot, and the NW-200 Is $209- $239.

Stock, performance and size wise they are comparable, and are both fair skimmers. Moded Ive heard that ASM can pull 18 -19 SCFH which would make it a Good skimmer. Moded an Octopus NW-200 can pull over 26 SCFH which would make it a better skimmer. Down side to the In sump Octopus skimmers, is they can add a little more heat to a tank than the ASM.

I am always pimping Euro-Reef but its for a reason.

RS-180 would be a good fit...But a little over $400.00.
