Does anybody out there have one of these fixtures on one of their tanks? If so, how good are they? I want it for anemones and soft corals and found it for a pretty good price. Just wondering if this brand or this model meets or exceeds expectations or is a piece of junk, etc.

Odyssea = garbage.

JMHO of course and I'm sure others will chime in.

It's cheap for a reason.

cheaply made but I will give them credit for using "advance ballast" in their units which are a high quality ballast. plan on replacing lamps within 6 months

I had a bit of an issue with a light that I recently purchased from them. I agree with jead85, replace the bulbs immediately. Also there is no support. The support that they have is only by email, and they have yet to respond to the requests that I made in March on a new unit that was delivered with problems. If you are handy and can get around small issues, you can't beat the price. One problem I found it that the moon LED's are on the same power switch as the T5's, so you can't put them on timers to use them at night.

I have their 24 inch fixture and it won't even support shrooms in the middle of the tank. I'm guessing maybe a bulb change would help this then?

Edit: Speaking of...is a 24 inch bulb something many LFS are going to stock?

I have a differing opinion on their twin bulb T5 fixtures. I recently bought six of their 24" two bulb T5 fixtures to use over my two six foot freshwater discus tanks. Remember, these are look at the fish lights, and not for lighting reef tanks. The bulb housing themselves are made of black aluminum. They have a plexiglass splash guard that slides in and out of the fixture. The reflector is a thin mirror type coating material. Nothing spectacular, but it does the job. An aluminum case encloses the electronic ballast. The ballast disconnects from the cord to the lights with a screw down waterproof o-ring sealed connector.

These are actually nicely built units. I bought some Marineland LEDs for the tanks and returned them, and they were flimsy plastic shell units, not nice powder coated aluminum. The Odyssea units actually look a lot like the Marineland LED units, just a bit taller. They even have the expandable wire brackets the Marineland LEDs have. The Odyssea units are easy to remove/replace the bulbs on. I am replacing the bulbs with Coralife Colormaxx bulbs, but the equipment feel and quality is surprisingly good for a unit that cost $39.99 shipped.

I used to blanket state that the Odyssea units were poor quality, but in terms of a FW light to look at the fish, these twin T5 units are on par with or better quality than anything I have seen from other major brand manufacturers. I cannot speak to their halide setups, but for a FW tank light, these are a bargain and just as nice as anything else available, but half the price. This is the exact unit I bought:

I really like the looks of the fixture....and the price. Haha. I also like the idea of moonlights and everything included in the fixture. Pretty much if I buy one though replace the bulbs as soon as I get it out of the box and it should be fine?
