I'm done with diy. I needreviews and advice on skimmers. Its a 180 gallon build including tank refugium and sump. What is recommended? I'm not rich so I need cost effective. I want nice quality but cant afford more than 150. Any ideas?

I have used Euro-reef, MRC, and currently Reef Octopus. I like the last two better than the first one. Keep checking the forum and good used skimmers pop up all the time.

I think used will be the way to go for that budget and that size tank. You may also look to see where you can skimp for now and save up towards the best skimmer you can afford. It's one of the most important components in your tank as it will be working on your water quality 24/7.

Yeah I'd have to agree. I can't think of any brands I would use for that size tank in that price range. I'd save up all the cash to get a really good used one. Sometimes people list some really great stuff for sale and seem to have a hard time moving it so you will probably be able to catch a break soon.

look for a used vertex in that price range. IMO

or this

I saw that same one on amazon for 139. But I wasn't sure if it was decent or not. But yes that is exactly what I saw are they decent?

The euro-reef was harder to dial in than the latter two. The reef octopus is my favorite. Pulls out massive gunk and easy peezy to run. The MRC was just louder.
