I have been going over the advantages & disadvantages of having my 30Cube/37Frag/40Soft all on hooked together on the same system vs. being seperated out. Curently I have the 30Cube and 37Frag on one system and the 40Soft on it's own. This is what I have come up with so far:

Advantages of one system:
1. Less equipment
2. More water volume (+corresponding advantages)
3. Lower power bill (due to less equip)
4. Better growth of specific corals: SPS/LPS/Softies
5. Equipment not needed: Sump, skimmer (sell for $)

Disadvantages of one system:
1. More complicated plumbing = more chance of leak/issues
2. One system if problem occurs, everything is affected
3. Chemical warfare, LPS/SPS vs. softies
4. Increase Chiller capacity (new chiller + power)
5. Less water volume (+coresponding disadvantages)

Can everyone chime ini with somethings I know I missed. I need to get this project complete before Sept. Thanks in advance!

I know where you are coming from, I have a 240 with a few sps's in it and a 90 cube with lps and after making my skimmer slightly larger and more powerfull my lps don't seem to be as happy. I sure don't want to split the up do to not wanting to buy more equipment. So at least your not alone

If you want my input I say leave it like it is... Softies like dirtier water, SPS don't. Some SPS and Softies do not play nice in the same system as eachother. For those two reasons I say leave them alone if you want to max growth out with both!
