I know of aquaiumplants.com regulator which seems to be the Bubble King of the regulator world.

Are there more viable options?

I'm not interested in a so so regulator.

Thanks,
B

Wow I did not know they were that overpriced!:D

I'm not sure why folks have problems with the Milwaukee ,JBJ or Aqua medics. I have ran all three on different set ups and never had problems.
Not sure what so so means in this case but if it is price that does not always dictate quality. The advantage of the aquariumplants is not the regulator but rather the valve. If using a controller I don't see it as a huge advantage.

I've got the JBJ on my set up. It does the trick.... So far! That being said... I should probably have a back up on hand when/if it fails.

I have a aquatek and a aquarium plants and the aquarium plants is worth every penny like the bubble king, I tuned it in no time and you can adjust bubble size as well as frequency, buy it once and be done with it

Do you run a ph/ controller?

Just ordered Aquariumplants reg along w some of the Julian Prung media

that would be awesome, and i could make u happy as far as frags go! I'm meeting RippedTide next weekish .. u dont happen to be close to him do you ?

Edit: crap.. am i gonna need a ph probe and sl1 for my SL1? :(

I feel your pain.

If you can make it work with someone for pickup .. I'll make sure to make it worth it in sps frags.

hey group..

help me out with something.. im new to the reactor world...

The PH probe / controller is just a fail safe correct? And the regulator in question is suppose to be good enough not to need a fail safe.. thus your question ?

Thanks for any help.

I used my controller as just that ,to control the ph in the reactor not as a fail safe. If you tune the bubble counter to control the ph and then use the solenoid/controller as a fail safe then the solenoid is activated all the time. The solenoid which are Normally Closed when not energized become energized and open continuously which is what overheats themand burns out the coil. Now most are said to be rated for continuous but that doesn't mean 24/7. I am not sure about the digital switch of the aquariumplants model. My controller triggered the solenoid several moments through out the day.

Edit: A controller makes it very easy to set the ph level in the reactor. If I was gonna use the needle valve /bubble counter I see no need for the controller even as a fail safe . How does a needle valve go bad?

I think its the solenoid that goes bad on most systems... from what I understand.

So keep helping me out here.

I measure my PH inside my reactor? or at the output in the sump? This should be my target PH for my display ?

If the PH rises to high the would be controller / probe shuts the reactor pump down correct.. ?

also, how does a dual chamber reactor play into this as far as keeping the ph more stable?

thanks again for any help

Can't tell you how a reactor works but as far as "failsafe" goes that is a function of the solenoid being "normally closed". If the co burns out it would remain closed. For it to open the solenoid would have to function properly and be receiving power from the controller.
