Hey, I am going to do a order from Dr. Reef's for some QT fish in the near feature. Anyone want to do an order together for free shipping/discount?

I could be interested depending on timing.

Depends on when you're thinking. Right now, I think I'm still some 30 days or so out from putting water in the box, so I could be ready for a clown or two or a neon goby possibly as little as a week later... call it 5, maybe 6 weeks, if I'm rushing and don't have any major setbacks.

BUT, for sure and certain, not having to QT those first fish myself would be hugely helpful, if it can wait.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend that you do some research on Dr. Reef. People have been having lots of super bad experiences over the last year or two.

I’ve had mixed luck with Dr Reef. I’ve lost two flame angels in a row, The first one never ate and hid until he died 2 weeks later. The replacement came in with a spot on its side consistent with an injury and lasted less than a week.
But I have gotten Starcki damsels, and halichores chrysus that have all lasted, so maybe just an issue with angels.

Check out fishotel and Dierks over on Humblefish, no personal experience as my custom order perished in QT and the other was an x large vs small and I chose not to take it. But people seem to like him a lot.

I was planning on putting an order in some time next week. I would take a look and see how long the fish you want are expected to be ready. Mine say 1-2 weeks but I would not mind waiting on the order if you chose fish that would take longer.

I’ve ordered from Dr. Reef before and never had issues. I do get that it’s no longer a small store and somewhat of a “corporation”. Just my 2 cents but I think the bad reviews are just because they are pushing so many fish through now. Plus they do refund fish from what I understand.

The majority of my fish have come from Dr. Reef. I won't say without issues, but I haven't experienced the problems that others have. I ordered a white tail and it went into someone else's box and that took some convincing and pictures to prove since it was a $300 fish at the time. They made it right in the end and sent me a new white tail when it was ready.

Do you QT still after receiving or do you typically toss them right into your tank?

We just got our second order from Dr. Reef Friday. They have been great with us. I’ve had issues with inverts from them, but they always are quick to refund or replace on the next order.

I follow their acclimation instructions and plop them in. The medication they ship in makes them super lethargic though. So don’t be alarmed if they show up looking almost dead. All of our fish have shaken off the medication within a day.

I’ve been seeing that in the thread on R2R that fish look DOA but turn around pretty quick. It also seems like most people have shipping issues rather than actual fish issues.

I never QT'd my first order but I also don't have a QT tank laying around. Everything I ordered came in healthy and they still are moving around 4 months later. They also threw in an extra fish just in case one of them was DOA (I have 3 clowns that was supposed to be a duo and no issues yet with one getting picked on)
