Out with the old in with me the older tank build

Well it is time to redo my tank . My current set up is a 140 rimless cube , 75 sump 3 AI hydra 26hd with 4 39watt t5 . 2 mp40 and 2 tunze 6100.

What’s the reason to restart?

Now the Older part , well about 9 years ago one of my very dear friends passed away . I got his tank from his wife and it has been sitting behind my shed the I put it under the house and it sat for almost 9 years . I was under the house a few weeks ago and saw it . After talking to my wife she encouraged me to set it up . Now the tank is a 120 that’s about 20+ years old . It is 72x20x20 . The tank has a huge glass center brace that I just don’t like . So the brace needs to go . I am having some 1/2 glass cute to euro brace the top . The tank also doesn’t have an over flow so I am having a custom overflow built that is 36x2x5.

While I was taking the center brace out I noticed the seems had a lot of air bubbles it is , so you know what that means complete rebuild.

The tank is now in pieces.

I placed my order for my over flow from Jax’s Racks and he sent me video of it being laser cute and it has come in . All I can say is great job Jax’s Racks .

4 AI hydra 26hd

2 mp40

2 tunze 6100

sump 125 gallon under the House

40 gallon frag tank

calcium reactor

kalk reactor

1000watt fire plug heater

Apex to run it all.

I have poured a 10 x 4 slab  framed it and started to finish the inside .

The reason for the redo is I really miss having tangs . I also found out why my friend always had a problem keeping tangs . When I was tanking to tang apart is noticed the silicone was blue and then I rembered that this used to be fresh water and the old itch treatment would soak up into the silicone and turned it blue . So it was leaching cooper back into the water .

Now that's what I call a monumental build! You have done a lot of quality work so far! Keep the pics coming. Looking good in the neighborhood!

I have about 100 + lbs of rock in my current tank and a  55 gallon trash can full of clean dry rock should make for some interesting rock work

Update .

Since I had the tank a part I decided to replace the front glass that’s all scratched up with a new piece that should be here Thursday. I went ahead and drill the back glass for the new over flow . Also I am working on an up grade for my skimmer , here is a sneak peak at the up grade .

Well my glass came in the other day but work has been crazy hopefully I will get a chance to work on the tank this weekend .
