I am adding a larger sump and return pumb to my 175 bowfront. I have 2 1" drains going to my sump. From what I can find online, they are only rated for 600gph each. How many gph can the returns really take? Any suggestions how to get more without making it dangerous for having an mess on the floor? I was wondering If I could drill the back of this tank. It is an Ocianic.
I would like to get at least 2000gph safely returning to my sump.
Thanks

Why would you like to have so much flow through your sump? It seems that much flow would be counter-productive (unless you have a very large sump).

I think the back of your tank is tempered. I'm guessing you could add a traditional bottom-drain overflow.

I have the same ? as Byran why so much?
Most people create flow in thier tank buy other means than return pumps.
A good sump flow through for a 175 tank is 350gph - 700GPH.
Then add some in tank pumps, or Closed loop, or Inductors... 2 moded mj pumps can create over to 4000 gph.

The worst part of having crazy flow like that in your sump will be the noise of crashing water. It will drive you insane!

Normally you dont want anymore than around 900 gph at most, I have 510. Dont rely on sump return for circulation.
