I just bought a 60G acrylic tank from James S. in this thread http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=21720">http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=21720</a>

I usually like a black background instead of the blue and the back of this tank is blue acrylic.

Is there a way I can paint the acrylic black inside the tank? If so what kind of paint would i need to use?

My first assumption would be that it is not possible to paint inside the tank, for obvious reasons. I am just hoping I am wrong though.

I can live with the blue, but if I can make it black that would be good too.

People swear by the Krylon fusion Spray paint. Personally I wouldn't gamble with it, but It has been done. You could use the "Foam" technique, It would give you a darker background and almost looks like live rock over time. Look here......

Good Idea!

Fish, I am doing the same thing on my 600 for the side panels. The full sheet cost me around $110. I may have a piece big enough leftover if you would like to buy it.LMK

I thought of sliding a piece of black in there as well.

Let me know if you do have enough leftover, I will be interested. The tank wont be setup for awhile so I am in no rush.

Wow. That is interesting, it looks good after its been in there awhile, but I dont know if I can commit to doing that.

Yeah that foam would be a pain to clean up if you decided you did not like it.

PM me some measurements of the back of the tank and I will see if the piece I have leftover is big enough to cover. Im heading out of town for the week but can check when I get back this weekend. Thanks

The acrylic I have is 1/8" not sure it would work well on an overflow box.

thank you for the reply.where can I get it tomorrow? will any of the glues sold for pvc,abs Etc. work?

if you are close to lawerencville, hit up MRC, they sell Weld-On 16 for $11-something... i used the to make my overflow box in my 40 breeder then used krylon fusion to paint it black...

My Reef Creations they are one of out sponsors, Raj is who I talked too

Cory I have looked at the sponsers list 3 times and I can't find My Reef Creations. Am I going Blind? (more blind) you were looking for weld on recently where did you find it?
thaks

Thanks. I see why I missed it. The banner on the left side, where I was looking alphabetically flashes the name maybe once ever 30 seconds. And so, another mystery solved.
