For the last two weeks I've been fighting what I thought was Ich. Random fish showing varying levels of typically Ich like spots. As i came home today during lunch to feed, I notice two of my clownfish have sores and large fluke like spots. Any ideas what I'm dealing with here?

You may want a "shout out" to JennM? She has helped others with concerns related to sickness or stressful related issues.

I don't think it is. They have had it going on two weeks. They'd be dead long ago if it was, or so I believe.

Every picture I look at looks just like te slime on them. I hope the best they are gorgeous fish to lose

Oh I hate to see that. I am with Kris. I am thinking brook. Some of my fish made it two weeks but others went very quick. I have metro and focus if you need it. But, if you think it may be fluke, why not pick one fish that seems to be hardy and give him a fresh water dip? If it is fluke, you should see them drop off in the fresh water. But then again, as you are well aware, I don't know squat and just repeat things I have heard others say so.......

^^^ +1

I just got done battling with it... The first pic up there is definitely Brooklynella.

FYI... I had a Clown last 4 1/2 weeks. I thought it was ich too.

Well everyone has been eating like horses... Since a verdict can not be made, guess I'll continue to feed heavily and hope they pull through.

Check this out Jesse-

Even if I was not convinced, I would treat it like it is. It can wipe out your tank!

FWIW-
Ich-X has formalin in it, along with malachite green.

I have some and will bring it to you if needed.

Jesse, ive had them both and im pretty sure thats velvet since you realized that if it was brook, they would be dying off by the hour. Id just recommend feeding heavy and keep them stress free. If its velvet, you def got a shot at keeping them alive but id still recommend treating them.

Add any new fish lately?

Let me know if you need a large QT since i just finished treating brook myself.

I also have a bottle of Ich X if you need it Jessie. But, because it is formaldehyde based you can't treat in the display. Correct?

Last fish was about a month ago.

It’s probably important to note that I just ran a treatment of Chemi clean. I'm attributing the worsening symptoms to the stress of that and the following large water changes.

Edit: I'm almost positive it's not regular Ich nor Brook. I'm guessing Velvet as well.

FWIW, large water changes should not stress out fishes. Also, Chemi-Clean is an anti-biotic.

I agree- looks like brook and acts like velvet. Without more definitive pics or a skin scrape- rather impossible to tell.

Are you planning to treat in display?

Also, parasite can rather easily be spread by invert/coral too.

Bill, only the freshwater version of Ich-X has malachite green. I think it can be used in SW but I use/recommend the saltwater-specific one.

Jeremy's right - it could be either (or both). One clown's eye sort of looks like it has a bit of lymphocystis on it too (but that would be the least of my concerns).

The Ich-X will address any/all of those, but it looks pretty advanced at this point. Quarantine and treat ASAP.

I have heard from a ton of people dealing with Brooklynella this summer. Summer is the worst time for it, IME, and this year has been the worst I can remember.

It doesn't always kill in hours but it can.

Actually it would.

1. Large water changes without checking to see if the temperature or parameter to be the same as the main tank would stress all livestocks.

2. While the manufacturer doesn't list specifically what type of antibiotic in Chemi-Clean ( I am assuming due to FDA regulation since antibiotic is a medicine and would required prescriptions). I am for one who don't like to abuse the usage of drugs especially antibiotic in which do not specifically kill certain bacteria but instead wipe the majority of bacteria including the good .
