I bought a 25 gal eclipse which came with the original PC lighting - the bulb was about shot so i figured I would just upgrade to LED at some point. I accidently overfilled the tank recently (putting my hand in with a peice or rock ) and ultimately resulted in the PC fixture crapping out.

The idea is to use 2 stunner strips (one all blue and one all white). I only have the blue right now so here is how I installed it. I will order the other one today.

I forgot to take before pics but anyone having an eclipse or any all in one should get the idea.

here is the lid after I removed the CF housing

i removed the reflector and laid out the stunner to size, i will mount it to the factory housing plate of the Eclipse

The power supply wouldnt fit thru the hole provided as you can see. I just use some snips to remove a small portion of the venting on each side

i reattached the housing plate to the lid, put the light sheild on to keep moisture and salt creep at bay and walah...I will install a 2nd strip directly underneath this one when i get it to balance it all out.

This was a really easy upgrade and i am not a DIY person at all and am pleased with the results...will post more when the whites come in.

I spent
$20 on the Power Supply
$50 for each strip

So a total of $120. I was going to spend $20 to replace the old PC bulb anyway (before it broke completely) so call it $100 less the cost of replacement of the original PC fixture as it was no longer operable, not sure how much that would have cost.

Were did you get the strips? That looks cool. Do they come in different lengths? I would consider doing this to my wifes little 6 gallon if I can find the right lengths.

I got one in Wichita at a LFS out there yesterday and the other i will order from Jenn, she sells them. they have a few options - you could get away with just one of them and spend about $75 (since you will need the power supply, sold seperately)

here is some info on them

I dont see anything short enough. I would need an aquarium stretcher :lol2:! I have 8 inches of room inside the light compartment. I will have to come up with another idea.
