Not sure the general concensus but I have a pistol, fire, coral banded and 2 cleaners in my tank. I had 5 peppermint, they lasted about a month. Can't be sure what happened to them. The shrimp still in there have been in the tank for 6 months atleast.

I have 2 pistol shrimps 5 peppermints and one cleaner and they all get along just fine. I do think though that the pistols do get the peppermints from time to time.

ahh ok...i wanted a pistol for my yellow watchman but i have a peppermint shrimp ive had for 5 months now that eats out of my hand so i guess i wont torment him by adding a nemesis :)

That's what I have one pistol for is my watchman but the other shrimp would come out when I was trying to get him gone but as ling as they pair I don't think that he would really mess with the peppermints as ling as he stays fed. The other pistol I have that doesn't have a goby is the one I believe gets the peppermints but that's my feeling about it and I need the pistols because the wife love them and I need to keep her interested in the tank so I try to keep what she likes.

Depending on tank size you probably won't ever see a pistol anyways. Atleast I've only seen mine twice in 6 months, although I hear him all the time!

The two will probably do fine. My neighbor's tank has a tiger pistol without a goby and two peppermints, and the peppermints just never seem to go over where the pistol has decided to make his home. It's been about two months since the addition of the peppermints and they seem to be doing just fine. The pistol and emerald don't seem to get along quite as well though.

i have a pistol and a cleaner in the same tank.. smaller tank. The pistol doesnt ever bother anything.. i keep him well fed. Whenever ive added something new to the tank he seems to come out to see what it is, but he hasnt ever eaten anything except once. Im pretty sure he got one of my sally light foots, since i got two and i have only seen the same one in weeks. Otherwise hes pretty interesting.. i think he can smell when i feed. Whenever i put in some blood worms for my puffer he immediately sticks his head out of the exact same place. So i go ahead and give him a piece of krill which he greedily snatches and runs back under the rocks with. Hes really cool i just wish he would stay out more often like the cleaner shrimp do.

pistols don't seem to bother any other shrimp larger than them...

I have a pistol and about ten or so peppermints in a 72. The pistol has his burrow at the base of the rock while the peppermints like it higher up on the rock. I do have a goby with him and he is out quite often. He has never bothered any that I know of. I would say go for it peppermints especially if the peppermint is normally at the top of your rockwork which it sounds like he is if he is eating from your hand..
