Peppermint shrimp attacking Xenia?

So, i've had Xenia and peppermint shrimp playing along nicely in the tank for almost a year now.

Yesterday, I noticed some of the Xenia not looking so well. Then when I went to feed the fish today, I saw one of the peppermint shrimp poking at it. It looked like it was trying to eat it.

Anyone ever seen this before?

Possibly got any food particles from feeding trapped by the xenia? I had some tips taken off of a frogspawn by my peppermint when he was going after a pellet stuck to it a few months back.
