Can anyone i.d. this from the crummy picture?

They are very small, like 2mm. A redish maroon color. They look similar to feather dusters other than the color. When they feel threatened, the tips go back into the tube.
 
They may be hydroid, if possible take the rock out and cut them off the rock. Before you do it look up hydroids on google and look at the images, they come in all colors. :) Holley
 
If they retract like a fanworm then it's probably a cluster of fanworms.

My first thought was hydroids too, from the picture, but I'm not so sure.

I googled it and it doesn't look like hydroids. If I can come up with the cord to my camera, I will get better pics of it.
 
did you ever find out for sure this sounds like something growing in my tank
 
IF they're hydroids, you need to act fast to remove/erradicate them before they become too prolific.
