Petco online sale?

Petco has an online sale of 10% plus free shipping on orders over $39. I figured it would be a good time to get some salt, since I need some. The sale description says its good on regular and sale prices, doesn't mention salt as excluded, but says it doesn't qualify when I try to checkout.

I was going to get the instant ocean 200 gallon box since it was on sale for $40.

Can anyone figure out what I'm doing wrong or why I can't use it?

I know what you are doing wrong. You are buying from Petco. Hehehehe. Seriously, JennM at Imagine Ocean was just running a big salt buy. Shoot her a PM.

+1 on that....buy local and probably get a better deal. There were a couple of LFS that has salt on sale. Check the thread.

which LFS in Atlanta (Buckhead/Midtown) have salt on sale, cant drive all the way to Canton/Alpharetta just for salt

A list of sponsers is at the top of every page. I don't know of any in your area. Sea Atlanta and Imagine Ocean both had salt on sale. But really, what's the difference in buying it on sale locally and driving to pick it up (probably cost around $10 in gas) or having it delivered and paying for that? At least you'll keep our local stores in business plus if you're a paid member here, you may be eligible for additional discounts. The LFS's tend to treat ARC members very well in my opinion.

SPONSORS /SPONSORS/SPONSORS !!! Thats why I try to buy everything from them, knowing they cannot compete with the BIG online folks, HEY they support us , so I support them 97% of the time. without US and THEM . what the h@33 would we do ?? order online and hope for the best in emergencies!! I know they are a few dollars higher but if they close down you will then wish you did more Buss with them. From my experience, Ive had 2 LFS shut down and now I pay more than ever to drive further. Support them please , every chance you get, they have always treated me the best they could without going outta business. Sorry I know this is not a place to post my opinions MOD. just slap me, its' not the first time!! IMHO :lol2::doh:

It says exclusions apply. I would expect that heavy items would be the exclusion. and it also applies to standard shipping only, which rules out livestock etc.

I might go ahead and get my next batch of flea& tick meds for the cats though, thanks for sharing

it says oversize is 300+lbs, and it only tries to charge around $5 for shipping so i believe its standard. nothing in the exclusions says anything about salt.

nothing against the sponsors, but the closest one is 45 minutes away, and all more expensive for the same product

the closest one for me is 1-40 minutes, but I do it!! in my Honda Civic:thumbs:

So here's a little ditty about why to use a sponsor. This afternoon...I went to pick up a fish from another member.....about 40 minutes from my house....and that's if I was going to go straight back, which I wasn't. So the fish was able to poke a hole in my bags and I had no other way to transport this fish...it would've gone dry before I could get it home.

A sponsor that I've purchased from before was within a mile so I went directly there. They re-bagged the fish with oxygen for the ride home! Didn't charge me, didn't expect me to make a purchase (I would've gladly done so), nothing....that's why you stick with your sponsors.

A 45 minute drive may seem like a long ways to you but did you ever stop to think about what you may overhear of see while visiting their store? I can't tell you how many times I've picked up something form overhearing a conversation and I've been in this hobby over 20 years!

You might even call the LFS and ask if they would ship and for how much. It's worth the conversation. If you're worried over $5 difference in price, then this may not be the hobby for you. Sorry, that's just my opinion.

Exactly!! Ever have an on-line store open up for you on the day they are closed? I had an LFS do so for me when I needed meds for my fish. And, they gave me a used HOB filter free of charge. I tried to pay them for it but they refused. And that just happens to be one of the LFS running a special on the salt right now.

Can't argue w that I have to admit. We have to support our sponsors. Without them our hobby wouldn't be what it is. Just my two cents.

I would just give them a call and see what's going on. Doesn't look like you will get the help you need on here....
