What ph controller should I get for a calcium reactor? I was going to get the pinpoint but read some bad reviews. Can I use The reefkeeper II to control my reactor? Also is anyone using the reef fanatic controller? Thanks

You can use the rk2 to control the reactor. 2 options with that: monitor the reactor ph or monitor the tank ph. If the tank ph drops below a set figure, it can shut down the CO2.

I've had the pinpoint hooked up for 4 months without issues...

Haven't played with the rk2 yet.

RK2s have a poor history with pH switch problems. Make sure you have the latest firmware for sure.

I know they have a bad rep but I have used a Milwaukee pH controller on my Ca reactor for years. Never had a problem with it. And they are cheap, too! Check out Aquabuys.com for a local source.

Dito on the Milwaukee PH Controller. I have a one in a T-fitting on my MRC-1 and it works like a champ!

Back in the MRC days when the guy we dare not speak his name was running things, he told me they had a lot of bad luck with the Milwaukee controllers and even worse luck with the regulators. He was considering dumping them altogether. That said Pinpoint doesn't have a great name either so you are kinda stuck between the two really. I decided to use my AC3, but that doesn't exactly leave a warm and fuzzy either.

I have a Milwaukee PH Controller running on my Calc Reactor and It's been working great with no problems. I'm about to remove it soon and have my my AC3 peforem the job. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed!!

I use the ACIII to monitor the tank pH and have an PX1000 expansion to add a pH port to monitor the Ca reactor pH. It is nice to be able to send alarms when the Ca reactor pH get's out of range. I knew right away when my CO2 tank ran out mid day on Friday. The ACIII does have some warts IMO, but if programmed correctly, it is hard to beat.

One more for the Milwaukee PH Controller; I used one for years without problems.

Thanks for the advice. Still looking at some additional options. I've had the PinPoint and the Milwaukee ph monitors and wasn't too impressed. The GHL ProfiLux looks kinda cool but expensive or the Duo-ORpH Controller. Any thoughts on these?
