I am trying to finish setting up my RKE and the last thing on my list is the pH probe. I have never calibrated a probe before. Do I just put it in the solution and wait until it reads the same number as the fluid? It came with 7 and 10 solutions and directions are to use the 7 first then rinse the probe in RO water and then put it in the 10.

Thanks for the help.

Usually there is a little screw driver and a calibration screw. Start with the 7, calibrate until it says 7, rinse in RO, calibrate the 10, rinse, check the 7, rinse, check the 10... so on and so forth. Ive always had to play around with the probes to get them perfect.

Do you have the RKE Owner's Manual? Instructions are in the back of it in the Inputs Menu section.

This is the RKE controller...it doesn't work that way. It is all push button. Maybe you are thinking of the MI SMS 122 controller in the green case?

Yep, i had used the Milwakee brand before and the hannah. I didn't realize that there were much more simple ways (push button) to calibrate on the more recent models.

Edit: And i just now realized that RKE stood for the reef keeper elite (duh).

Edit: I was thinking that he had 'just' a ph probe.

you will need the 7 and 10 PH solutions. You will need to look up the directions but you basically hit calibrate, rinse your probe in RO, dry it well and dip it in the 7ph solution until the raw data stabilizes, then hit next. repeat process (RO water swish, dry etc..) and place in the 10 ph solution until raw data stabilizes, hit next and your done. It can take a while for the raw data to level out so take your time.

Should the number read 7 and 10 when in that solution?

Thanks for the help yall

I think MyReef 2.0 has a "save" feature you have to hit after the second calibration point. The calibration feature is pretty intuitive.

nice, I havent calibrated since I switched over. I will do it this weekend when my salinity probe finally arrives.

I hope this one works for you. They kept everyone waiting long enough.

If it had been a PH or Temp probe I would have been alot more upset. I didnt rely on it for anything other than monitoring so it wasnt a real necessity. After time if this one proves reliable I may use it to do more.

did you ever have one?
