PH Question

Reefers, I dose my RO top off water with buffer, can I use my API saltwater PH test kit, to check the PH or does salt need to be mixed in to give an accurate reading?

Thanks, I was getting sky high PH with the saltwater test kit. I will just test the PH after topping off and adjust from there. I have a 12 G Aquapod open top with MH and am losing a gallon of water a week. I was just topping off with RO only but my PH would drop, so I am looking for a dummy proof way to dose the RO water with buffer to help keep the PH stable.

I use a Kalk reactor in my top off and the Ph stays at 8.3-8.4
