I set my flow so the gfo looked like that.

looking great! at first, your media might be saturated quickly, so you need to change your media often! it could be saturated within 24 hours!

ive had a 14g and a 30g...only time i had problems is when i fed frozen food...itd just dissipate throughout the tank and go all over the place...the flakes did so to a lesser degree....now everything gets pellets..i occasionally do some flakes and give very small amounts of frozen to spot feed corals and phosphates are 0

in my media basket i run filter floss on top, purigen in the middle and chemi-pure elite on the bottom

you may try going the pellet route and see if that helps...ive no doubt that it will

is thaat one of thos build it yourself reactors?

I fed pellets exclusively when I started the tank over a year ago. I still had similar issues (around .04 to .05). I was feeding two types of pellet food. Since adding the reactor on Tuesday, I have noticed some of my SPS corals that have never extending their polyps since being added to the tank are doing so. I tested last night for PO4 with the new Red Sea test kit and it looks like I have dropped from .06 to .02.

That was just a video I found on youtube to show a flow rate. I went with the Two Little Fishes Phosban 150 reactor.

Something is killing me in the phosphate world. I'm about to replace all my RO/DI filters and see if that helps. As well as clean my saltwater mixing tank incase that's causing the issues for some reason. Food amount has already been reduced and my rock is rather old at this point. I only have 5 fish in a total system of 90 gallons.

I'm wondering if my reactor is too high to be using with a maxi-jet 1200. Water is flowing through it, but perhaps it's supposed to be at a faster rate?

As long as your GFO is tumbling slightly you are OK with flow. Phosphate is not going to be caught by an RO carbon prefilter/postiflter or sediment prefilter as far as I know. I'd say look at your salt mix or your rock for your phosphate issues.
