I could not get my computer to post pics on the other thread so I just started a new one. Any help on what kind of butterfly would be great. I just hope I dont have to get rid of it. It is cute.

Congrats.. I've always loved those fish!! The only one that I ever had died within the day.. But I had him in with a puffer in a 55 WAY back in the day when I trusted what LFSs said.

Its a very subtle difference, but on a smaller one like that, its a bit easier. The diphruetes has a shorter snout, shallower "breast", and the black band that goes to the anal fin terminates right at the edge.

Which lfs did you get it at? That is a gorgeous fish!

I got it at a store in Tallahassee, Fl.

It is becomming one of my favorites already. It has got a crazy attitude. It is not affraid of any thing.

Hi Dawgdude,

I've had my Moorish Idol now for over 6 months and he's doing great. It took me 1 week to get him to eat, but since then he's only proved to me that he's an absolute pig. Eating every thing I drop into the tank. He loves Nori, Mysis, Plankton, Shrimp, Spectrum dried food pellets. He even fights the Xhatch Triggers for food ;-) probably one of the better eaters in my tank.

Now I know im lucky but you can find good examples out there. I had my LFS feed him twice in 10 minutes just to make sure he was eating before bringing him home. He wasn't the prettiest in the bunch they had but he is magnificent now after a bit if TLC.

I would recommend this fish only to the experienced though.
