Got back from a long weekend and found my pink birdsnest tipped over on my plate coral . The part that was touching the plate coral was white and the part of the plate coral the birdsnest was touching is showing its skeleton. I dont know how long they were together. We left Friday morning and got back Sunday. We seperated them and when we got home today the Birdsnest is about all white. Is this just because of stress from fighting with the plate coral and it should rebound over time or are we about to have a nice new ornament? What would be the best course of action now? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like the tissue is still there. Still has a little bit of color on a few branches. I figured I would have to wait it out and see what happens. Bummer though. I will try to get a pic up here in a little bit

Yeah, if the polyps and tissue are still there it may recover, but be aware IME it takes FOREVER.

Thanks for the help. I figured as much. I got fragged what I could. It was a nice pink before this. Guess this goes with the good parts of the hobby. The coral is hosting two crabs. Is there anything we can do for them? Will they find another coral?

you can put the crabs in something else...if you can get them out.

That thing is dead though, I would take it out of the tank asap.

Ahhhhhhhhh! Nothing like expensive rubble for the sump! Thanks for the help everyone.

Ack. That's a good sized colony. Those tips are definitely still alive though...

I had the same issue..except my PBTA stung my ORA Florescent Birdsnest and it RTN'd in a day. Sucks!

I got in today and I still have a little color on the tips so I am gonna give it a chance. I got a couple of frags off of it so hopefully they will make it. It is a good size colony Jin and I hate to lose it. This one started out as about 1/4 of it going out and within 24 hours, well the pics show what happened. Bad part about it I put it on a nice heavy base and had it at the bottom getting acclimated to the lights and I can only guess our Sailfin Tang knocked it over into the plate coral. It would not have hurt so bad if it had been the plate coral going out, although that would have sucked too, it would not have made that mad. Whatcha' gonna do?
