I impulse purchased some small items for my freshwater and saltwater tanks following a recent travel out of state. I ended up with two unexpected dwarf seahorses when I unloaded the mermaid fan for my sons pipefish tank.
My flow was too high for the weak seahorses following a plane flight, so I set up a sterile jar with bacteria soaked sponge filter until I figured out what to do next. Fast forward less than a week later, Im a proud mama of 4 baby seahorses!
Good news, we regularly hatch baby brine shrimp for the pipefish and have access to copepods, so I’m good on food. I’m considering what to do next. I’ve purchased a sicce 0.5 pump to replace my sons loud eheim 1000, so that might offer lower flow. I’m also looking into the kickstarter seahorse tank by PJReefs as well as a beverage dispenser type setup like I’ve seen at Southern Aquatics.
