my tank is an oceanic 33 gallon cube. im building a custom sump, fuge .im upgrading both my biocube 14 and nanocube 12 . ive never had hqis before. im looking at the sunpod 150hqi because i want moon lights. i do have room to hang it if i need.also is there any other light set up i could use that i can hang thats a better value ? and should i go for 250 or 250? its in a really big living room wth vaulted creilings. any advise would be great before ordering.i would like to find a set up with moon lights if i can ,if not oh well.

How wide is the tank? Outer Orbit makes a 24" light that has 1x150w HQi, 2x65w PC Actinics, and 4 Lunar lights and it has a hanging kit.

I have 30' ceilings in my LR and used a plant hanger from HD to hang mine. I think it looks pretty good:
Yes the fixture and pictures where not straight, but they are now.:D

Aquamedic makes a hanging fixture that has 250W DE MH w/ T-5 actinics. Comes in a 24" length. I have the 4' version and love it.

I have a Oceanic 30 cube, been in service for over two years with a PFO fixture. The fixture has (2) 27W PC's (use 32W lamps) and a mogul socket. Your choice of ballast (I use an Ice Cap 250) and they make a moonlight that attaches to the mogul socket. It has been great for my purposes. My only complaint would be that the fan included in the pendant is a little loud. I've been to lazy to swap it out for another fan.

This one has the PFO ballast included.

Hope this helps!

Hmmmm.....tough call. I'd definitely go with the.... no WAIT, you'd better stick with the....err uhhh, just go with the 250.

If you don't mind going mogul, look into the 175w Iwasaki. Bang for the buck probably the best MH out there for tanks at or under 24".

that was 150 or 250 hqi. how about the saolana ball?

I've got a viper 150w that I got from aquabuys. Its a helluva deal and works well on my 24 gallon cube.

I installed some moonlights for 8 dollars or so and it looks fantastic :).

If you do end up buying from aquabuys, which I HIGHLY recommend for good customer service and a good product, I'll be glad to help you install the moonlights.

Not to mention that the discount you get at Aquabuys would just about pay for your ARC membership.

[subtle hint]

;)
