I understand that they are difficult to maintain?

I have had mine for over 6 months with no episodes.
 
They're on the more difficult side to have long term success with. That one looks bleached to me.
 
I have one too that came on my live rock. It's snowy white as well but seems to keep on keepin on. Doesn't look bleached.

This is a duplicate thread - but yes, this is a very bleached red Goniopora.

i had one like that for a few years. although the 24 tenticles turned brown, the rest stayed lime green.

can you link the post?
