Ok - I purchased an external protein skimmer for my tank while it was cycling. The skimmer sitting inside the stand fully assembled has 3" clearance from the top of the stand (aka bottom of the tank). However, the output line as it is setup is about 4" below my sump. My question is, is it ok to put elbows on the output of the skimmer to get it over the sump wall? The instructions said something about decrease the flow into the skimmer if I have elbows on the output stack, but that didn't quite gibe in my mind, hence my question to the experts (and Rich).
