How often do I need to add pods to a 75 gal tank with 2 mandarins and 1 wrasse. Bubba

Also, how established is the tank? If you have enough live rock and a fuge, and an already established pod population, you shouldn't have to add any.

But to try to answer your question, they eat almost constantly. You'll have to add pods a number of times a week. I had trouble keeping up with my one spotted mandarin and he was on prepared foods. I was feeding twice a day, but that still wasn't enough, so I gave him away.

I have made a plastic box with hundreds of holes for flow, filled with cheato. I have added two bottles of pods this month. Should this mini fuge be in the back of the DT or should I keep it in the sump? Lights on or off. Bubba

It depends on the size of the box and the amount of chaeto. It also depends on the amount of live rock in your display and in your fuge. The chaeto will definitely need light.

If you could, give us some more info on your system. I think that would help you get the best advice tailored for your needs. Also, pictures help immensely.

You can run the pod house in the display, that's not a problem. I'd also have some chaeto and a low flow spot in the sump too. One thing you may benefit from is adding some Phyto (I prefer PhytoFeast) to the tank every 1-2 days (like 25 drops) to help keep your pod stock up. You will quickly find that adding them gets cost prohibitive.

2 mandarins and a wrasse in a 75 is a LOT of pod-eating...

Both of these statements are very true.

also if you dont want any cheato in your dt then you should invest in a sponge or two for your tank. the copepods will spawn inside the pores of the sponge. i have one green mandarin and and about 5 realy small sponges. i feed the coral and pods a mixture of phytopex and microvert every 3 days and mine eats all day long. established liverock helps greatly too. hope this helps
