I was wondering if these guys do better and may be a little bolder if kept in pairs or groups? I bought one 3 months ago only to never see it again after day one. I figured it was dead. However, today when I was taking extra rock out of the tote to take pics of it my Pom Pom crab crawled off of a rock!! I was totally shocked and excited! It’s going into my 25 gal but I was hoping there may be a way to make him come out more. Or am I at its mercy and luck of the draw as to whether or not I’ll see him again 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have one in my 15g cube. It didn’t come out for the first month or so, except at night. It then would come out once a week or so, whenever I’d do my nightly feeding. I’ve had it 3 months now, and it comes out and is all over the place every time I feed the tank.

The only other tank mates it had were 2 clowns, 4 sexy shrimp, and my CuC consisting of blue leg hermits, nassarius, and trochus snails. I recently moved the sexy shrimp into my macro tank, so I have a feeling my pompom will be out and about even more now.

Well other than a clean up crew he will be the only thing in the tank until mid December probably. I’m holding off getting any fish until we come back from Florida

Ive had a few before. They usually stay hidden in the rock work and wont really come running out for food like shrimp will. Having more than one will work depending on how much space they have. They will get in fights occasionally which is hilarious to watch.

You will see them every so often though. The smaller the tank the higher the chances. Think of them as something you see and go "Holy crap hes still alive!"

Haha that was my exact reaction when I saw it! At first I was like what’s that!?, then it was a holy crap moment! Then was excited 😆
It’s in a 25 gal lagoon so hopefully it makes “guest”
Appearances on a semi regular basis
