Pest... Not beat.
First a little history on the coral.
This came from a friends tank. It want healthy when I received it.
I dip all my corals in Coral RX before they go anywhere near my main tank.
These black things don't appear to move.
(Which doesn't mean much)
They are only on the areas of the coral that are extremely stressed / skeleton. I don't find any on any tissue. I also don't see any on other corals. Is it simply a diseased coral?
Any help is appreciated.

As I can see from here it appears they are actually IN the skeleton?

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

I cut the coral at the base, and can see that whatever this is is indeed inside the skeleton.

At any rate this one will be a long time recovering and I'm going to remove it from the tank

My guess would have been algae. I guess we won't know now.
