I found this guy on one of my zoa frags this morning and believe it is a nudibranch. Can anyone confirm? Is the right thing to do to take it out? From what I've read if it is a nudibranch they will eat the zoos.

yeah thats a nudi, and I'm sure its eating your zoos. be carefull taking it out, they are toxic.

ah! Zoa eating nudibranch! Good luck. Make sure you wipe out its eggs too.

Thanks guys, it is now out of my tank and I did wear gloves. As a matter of fact I almost always wear them after getting a pretty bad rash that lasted over a month from doing the original set up and moving the rock around untill I got it where I wanted it. Even though it may look silly I will even take my gloves to the LFS the next time I buy live rock or ask them to handle it since the last time I was looking over a few pieces I got nailed by a bristleworm. It took a while to get all the bristles out.

Oh, man another thing to worry about! I could barely see this guy and only found it because I regularly inspect all my rock with a magnifying glass. I can't even imagine how tiny any egss would be. How do you go about finding them?

There was a long thread before discussing a saga dealing with these creatures. Just go to Reef Discussions forum, do a search on nudibranch.

I believe a Q tank was set up and all the zoo's were taken out of the disp for a period of time till all the eggs hatched, no zoos so no food so they all die. As for the Q tank with them in there, you'll have to research that, I think they were picked out, not too sure if there is a medicine to kill them or a natural predator.

I've been going over all the zoas carefully and haven't found any signs of more, although I have a few that aren't opening. After reading that post, I have a sick feeling in my stomach, but am keeping my fingers crossed. I have a 10G tank that I'm planning on setting up as a frag tank now maybe sooner rather than later.

Flatworm eXit... best thing in the world for these. Give a 2x dose and that should do the trick. Your tank should be okay unless you have a flatworm problem too. If either case, if you decide to go this route over the fresh water dips, I would have some carbon and pre-mixed water on standby.

I didn't see any this morning so I'm just going to watch it for now. I was planning on setting up a 10G frag tank and once I get it set up if I have any more nudis I'll move the zoas to that tank and deal with them there. From what I read in the post where you had them, once the zoas are no longer available in my show tank any more nudis would die of starvation. Hopefully, that's a fact.

Thanks, looks like this will be my plan as well. Put them in another tank and let them die off in my show tank and deal with them in the 10G.

I set up a frag tank and moved all my zoas to it and have not seen another one since. I may have been the lucky guy to only have one. There may have been others in the show tank, but if all they eat are zoas then they are long gone too. I just put a zoa frag back in the show tank this week and am watching it closely.
