Extended power outage due to several trees falling on power lines. Atlanta’s ridiculous tree policy strikes again! I’ve lost count of the number of outages this year due to trees falling. Makes me want to go straight up California on these trees! (But I won’t just for the record). Frustrating.

Your cycle will be fine. Gives you a wake up to figure your power backup solution before you stock the tank. Many people don't think about it till its too late. I veiw it as part of the system and plan for the expense.
So do I, Adam. I have 2 mp40’s and 2 eco tech BBU’s. I think this event will finally convince my wife that we need a generator.

With a generator, even if it's a small one to run just the aquarium and a few other things like a fridge and a coffee maker you can get an inverter/generator from Harbor Freight from $500-800.

It’s kind of funny but not since people are having so many issues right now, I’m working on a project for a major Georgia electric company on their tree trimming managment. They cycle trimming areas every 3-5 years. We’re suppose to figure out a better solution for trimming to reduce their budget.

They don't need 6 trucks and 18 people to trim 5 tree branches.

all work is preformed by a contracted company lol. I feel the same way though I’m not sure how they choose a company to use, if it’s lowest bid or just a company they’ve been using.

While they may claim it's lowest bid etc - it's really going to be lowest bid from approved companies. Corporate junk is typically the same way.

It's a nice little way for an entity to maintain some control over who actually gets the contracts.

I always find it funny when companies or governments pay money to find ways to save money. Ummmm - have you asked your employees?

They suck. And I shouldn’t be censured here for saying that because they really do suck. A tree fell on a house on Springlake Dr. earlier this year. They came, took the tree , fixed the power line and left another tree literally 30 yards away leaning waaaay over the power lines. Common sense would have said, “since were here with all this equipment let’s get that one too”, but noooo. During this storm two more trees fell on that street. It’s the 4th time this year I’ve lost power. I will end up getting a generator. My tank is not going out like that.

Hey! Any chance I can rent that par meter? It can wait after the weekend. I know you’re busy. I’ll be happy to pick it up.
Oh crap. I've got a reading to do tomorrow morningish - then I'm giving it to wildernet Sunday at the meeting - Saturday afternoon/evening work for you?

I've got to start getting an appointment book going because I totally forgot about that man - I'm so sorry!
