So two separate questions.
I have an Aquaclear 110 I’m going to be using on my tank. Everything I’ve read is ditch the media that came with it and replace it. Anyone use Chemipure Elite? Or a recommendation on what else to use?

Also, besides the 110, I assume I will need a powerhead? One or two? I don’t want to drop $300 on a Vortech so can anyone recommend something cheaper? And How much flow should I be ideally looking for?

Thanks!

I saw from another thread you have a 37 gallon, is that the tank in question? If i absolutely had to use a hang on filter I would use Seachem matrix (in mesh bags) and filter floss only. I'll leave the powerhead question to others as I've had bad luck with Jebao/Jecods myself, now I use Icecap Gyres and MP40s.

When I was running my aquaclear 70 on my 10g I ditched all of the media it came with except the ceramic pieces. I ended up making a refugium out of it. It ran great until I upgraded. There's a ton of videos/forums on how to do this yourself. You can also purchase an Intank media basket that separates the Chamber and can accommodate a skimmer.

I would definitely recommend getting DC wavemakers due to the controllability. Some people don't like jebao WMs but I have not had any issue with mine. I run a TW-10 and an RW-4 in my 22g display. If I could do it again I would get two TW-10s bc they are a little smaller profile than most.

Yes sir 36gal. I’ll check out the Seachem! Thanks

I use jebao Wms on all my tanks. No problems with them. I have used chemipure blue before with good results. I would wait till your tank matures and see if you really need it. On my big tanks I use Rox 0.8 carbon and seachem purigen

Hi Steve! I have purchased, but not yet used, the Jebao crossflow pumps (2) for my new and not yet set up 125g. Just curious if these are the ones you've used and what were the negative experiences you've had? Thanks!

I used PP8s, started with 2 used and 6 new and a year later had only three left working so I switched. I do have one that's lasted over a year in fresh water but I no longer use Jebao for Salt water tanks

I use aqua clears on most of my salt tanks. I ditch the media and little bracket thing that comes with it. I use filter pad to polish the water, phosguard and carbon in a panty hose and a small piece of polyfilter in mine. I have used many different kinds of power heads. But usually get the little hydor ones. :)

The little hydors work great in small nano systems. We use Aquaclears and inserts for macroalgae and pond matrix as well.
