While putzing around in the garage today I noticed a drop of water on the John Guest output from my RODI. I thought this was a bit unusual because the RODI has not had a problem since I installed it 8 years ago. RODI is about 6’ up the wall so I get on the ladder to push the tube tighter into the fitting. The tube snapped... shower #1. The tube was very brittle and I had to dig pieces out of the fitting. Installed new supply tubing, pressurized the system and all is good. While looking over the RODI I noticed two other fitting with a drop of water on them. Thinking water was from earlier shower I proceeded to wipe off one of the fittings. The tube snapped... shower #2.
I assume this is a maintenance item I hadn’t thought of. Tomorrow I will replace all tubing on my RODI. Just a thought to pass on...
