problem staying signed on

I've been here about a month now and I am having a problem that is getting irritating.
When I sign on there is no problem. BUT, whenever I move around the site and go to another forum or whatnot I am signed out and have to sign in again.
Does anyone else have this happen? Is it typical?

I think Skriz has it right -- I stay logged in for very long periods of time, except for when I restart the browser (I have cookies deleted on exit).

For the people who are having trouble staying logged in, can you stay logged in to other online services?
