I’ve been considering adding a UV sterilizer to my freshwater community tank to help control algae and keep the water crystal clear. For those of you who have used UV on your freshwater systems, what benefits did you notice? Did you see improvements in water clarity or fish health? Were there any downsides, such as impacts on beneficial bacteria or microfauna? I’m especially interested in hearing if the investment was worthwhile for a well-maintained tank with regular water changes. Looking forward to your insights.

Works very well at controlling algae but also kills parasites, all of our tanks have uvs on them and no issues with bacteria but the micro fauna I can’t say it doesn’t hurt them but our plants flourish nonetheless
